September 29 is no ordinary day in our home. It is the Feast of the Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael. Three heavenly powerhouses. Three unique missions. One incredible reminder that we are never alone.

You have probably heard of them before. St. Michael is the warrior. St. Gabriel is the messenger. St. Raphael is the healer. And together, they show us that God sends real help to His people —help with strength, clarity, and restoration.

St. Michael the Archangel: Protector of Families

This is the one we call on when the world feels heavy. We pray his prayer daily, especially before we leave the house or when our kids are feeling anxious. He is not a chubby cherub. He is a sword-wielding, dragon-stomping defender of truth.

If your home feels like it is under spiritual attack lately, start praying the St. Michael Prayer every day. Out loud. As a family. Let your kids hear it. Let the enemy hear it too.

St. Gabriel the Archangel: Bringer of Clarity

St. Gabriel delivered the most important message in history — the announcement of Jesus’ birth. He shows up when there is confusion and reminds us that God speaks with peace and purpose.

If you are facing a big decision or struggling with discernment, ask for St. Gabriel’s intercession. God still sends messengers. Sometimes we just need to quiet the noise to hear them.

St. Raphael the Archangel: Healer of Hearts and Bodies

St. Raphael is in the Book of Tobit, guiding a young man on a journey, healing blindness, and restoring a marriage. Sounds like the kind of help we could all use these days.

He is a powerful friend for those going through illness, injury, or any kind of inner healing. If someone in your family needs physical or emotional healing, light a candle and ask St. Raphael to walk with them.

How We Celebrate

In our home, we keep it simple. We tell our kids the stories. We pray the St. Michael prayer. We might make angel food cake if we’re feeling festive. But mostly, we remind ourselves that heaven is not far away. It is close. Active. Fighting for us.

These heavenly helpers are not fairy tale characters. They are part of our reality. Warriors. Messengers. Healers. Sent by God for you and for me.

Let’s not forget to call on them.
